I’m Tim Colica, a Senior UX Designer with over 17 years of experience in Product Design, User Experience, and Strategic Thinking. Along the way, I’ve gathered stories, insights, and inspirations that have shaped both my approach and my craft.
My journey into technology and design began at the age of 13, when I received a Commodore 64 as a gift. By 16, I was already designing my first website—self-taught and driven by a newfound passion. That moment sparked my dedication to design, and I’ve been honing my skills ever since.
Throughout my career, I have worn many hats, collaborating with teams from various countries and across a wide range of sectors, including tech, healthcare, finance, mining, commodities and non-profit. This diverse experience has not only broadened my perspective but also deepened my understanding of user needs in different contexts.
Whether leading design teams, working directly with stakeholders, or mentoring junior designers, I’m always focused on creating intuitive, impactful user experiences that align with both business objectives and user goals.

Work experience
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of companies across multiple industries, which has significantly enriched my professional perspective. My experience spans financial institutions, where I developed a deep understanding of the fast-paced and highly regulated financial environment. In the mining and energy sectors, I gained valuable insight into the complexities of resource management, sustainability, and operational efficiency. Additionally, my time with non-profits allowed me to apply my skills in mission-driven environments, where impact and community were the focus.
I’ve also worked with commodity-focused businesses, where I learned the intricacies of global markets, supply chains, and trade dynamics.
Consulting roles further broadened my experience, enabling me to work across various sectors and address challenges ranging from strategic planning to organisational development. This diversity in my career has equipped me with a versatile skill set and the ability to adapt quickly to new industries and business models.
Volunteering
In addition to my professional experience, I’m deeply committed to giving back through volunteer work, which has further shaped my approach to design and community impact.
As a volunteer for ADPList.org, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring and guiding aspiring designers, sharing insights from my own career while helping others navigate their creative journeys. This role has allowed me to connect with a global network of talented individuals and contribute to their professional growth.
These volunteer experiences have not only broadened my perspective but also reinforced my passion for fostering creativity and empowering others to succeed.
